Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and Squaw Pass Road

I have mentioned before that our family loves to go on drives in our area. We also love to take pictures. This is a post that is picture heavy from a recent drive that we went on. We first headed to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. They have a beautiful visitor center with a lot of historical information about the place and how it came to pass. They have also just recently opened up a 9 mile loop that your family can drive. We were so excited that the loop was opened and we were able to take a drive around it. These are a few of the pictures that we took.

After we left the Wildlife Refuge, we headed back towards Lookout Mountain to get on the Lariat Loop.  We took this picture of the town of Golden, CO and the Colorado School of Mines.  This is were we moved to, so my husband could work at that University.

We some how another missed the Lariat Loop turn-off and ended up on the Squaw Pass Road.  While we may have missed the turn-off, we sure didn’t miss the beautiful views of the mountains and wild life.  I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing God’s creation.

I love driving around and exploring where we live with our family.  We always have so many wonderful adventures with one another!

traditions, family drives ~ Guanella Pass

One of our favorite things to do as a family is going a on drive around the area.  Since we have moved to Colorado, we have a lot of new areas to explore.  One of those areas we went to recently was the Guanella Pass.

.

Guanella Pass is located in Clear Creek County, west of Denver.  It was also named after a worker who had worked for the county for 50 years.

We started the drive in Georgetown, CO.

All along the way, there are places you can pull off the road and hike.

There are also places you can camp.

I see this as being a road that we take often on drives.

Not only do we get to enjoy the beautiful scenery.  We get to enjoy the special time together.

We leave our phones off, and music softly playing.  We enjoy just talking and visiting with one another.

I love this special time with my family.

Do you go on family drives?  How do you spend time with your family?

Views from White Ranch Park

While my oldest daughter was at her riding lesson, we rode to White Ranch Park in Golden, CO.  It is a beautiful Open Space.  A lot of great trails to walk on.  We didn’t have time to go hiking on any of them, but were still able to take in the gorgeous views that the park offered.  I see us coming back here for a field trip to do a nature walk for science.  The kids have already said our next time to the park, we will need to bring a picnic lunch. I can’t wait until next time!

tulips in the spring

I am truly loving the spring weather we have been having. Everything is blooming in this area and the colors are beautiful. The place where my hubby works at has the flower beds full of tulips. This year, they decided to add in smaller flowers all around the bed. Just beautiful. My pictures definitely do not do them justice.

spring time is here!

This post is picture heavy today. I was outside enjoying everything that I saw blooming. Thought I would share some of the beautiful flowers that are in and around our home.

Oh, I am still around.  Don’t give up on me yet!  I have been so busy with the family and school, that blogging has taken a back seat.  I have missed being here and hope to get in a routine soon!

I will also be switching to WordPress soon.  I won an awesome blog makeover from Honeycomb Design Studio.  I have seen several blogs that Honey and her husband have created and I am so excited!

Off to work on a few posts for this next week!
