so thankful and blessed… #1051-1060

so thankful and blessed… #1051-1060

When I see this verse, other than thinking about God sending Jesus to die on the cross, I can’t help to think about another group of people who have put and continue to put their lives on the line for us.  That is the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.   Because  of those who have served and are serving,  We have freedoms that a lot of others do not have.

John 15:13

13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

 Colossians 3:17

17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The month of October has passed and we have now entered into November, the month we all celebrate Thanksgiving.  However, I have been doing my best to celebrate Thanksgiving daily, year around.   We have so much to be thankful for.  Even with a week of sickness, several days with a migraine, I can be thankful.  Thankful that I have medicine to help with the migraine.  Thankful I can go to a chiropractor and have my neck/head adjusted.  I just look at times like this as God telling me to slow down and to refocus on what is important.  Good or bad, I will praise Him.

1041. another week with my family.

1042. being asked to help with social media on Creation Thursdays at Creation Conversations.

1043. children who help around the house.

1044. sickness/migraine to slow me down to refocus on what is most important.

1045. new friends in Colorado.

1046. an invite to the Colorado Symphony. (field trip post)

1047. letters from friends back on NC.

1048. encouraging messages from fellow homeschoolers.

1049. being able to help and encourage others.

1050. quiet Sundays at home with the family.

I just love this time of the week.  Another week full of blessings has passed us by.   I love thinking about all that God has done for my family and I.  Every day, no matter what type of day we have had, I can always think of something that God has blessed us with.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always,

17 pray without ceasing,

18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1031.  Being able to go to a Symphony.

1032. Their dad being able to go to the Symphony with us.

The view from our seat.

1033. the experience of trying to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. (we did get to see Paul Ryan standing in the front of his bus when he pulled up late.)

1034. being physically able to walk up the side of that mountain!

1035. the cooler temps!

1036. the beautiful snow that we got!

1037. watching the kids play together in the snow.

1038. calling my momma and wishing her a very happy birthday!

1039. helping the kids put their costumes on.

As I sit here thinking on the last month of our life, I can look back and know from all that has happened, that our family has truly been blessed.  A lot happened, but God was with us every step of the way.  Was it a hard trip?  Yes.  Were there times that I thought we would never make it and this was a big mistake?  Yes.  Yes, there were.  I even cried at times.  I wondered why all of the bad stuff was happening.  I had felt peace about the move from the very first time we heard Buddy had the job.  I was questioning if we had missed something, a sign that we weren’t supposed to move cross-country.  However, I could not think of anything that would have felt like a sign from God saying we should not take the job and move.

What kept me going? This verse in Joshua.  There is also one found in Deuteronomy that is almost word for word.  It just wasn’t any verse, it was a command. It was a command to Joshua, just after Moses died.  However, I think it applies quite well to our life right now.  It was where God was commissioning Joshua to carry on what Moses had started.  I feel like God has charged us to do the same.

 Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

This is what I have tried to do this whole time.  Be strong and to have courage.  God has lead us out here to Colorado for a reason.  We made it to Colorado safely and now we are settling in.  As for the reason God lead us out here, I don’t know it yet.  I don’t know if we will ever know why we were lead to Golden, CO.  However, I do know that we must do our best to live daily for Him.  I will be doing this by putting one foot in front of another.  By taking care of my husband and children.  By glorifying God in all we do.  Will it always be easy?  No. God never said it would be easy.

We will just be taking it day by day and counting our blessings as we go.

989. quiet time to pray.

990. memories of my dad.

Won’t you join me and others at A Holy Experience, counting blessings?

It has been three weeks since I last wrote about what I am so thankful for.  God has blessed us in so many ways.  It is truly amazing all He has blessed us with.  Since the last post, we have been in Colorado a little over two weeks. The trip out here was quite an adventure and I have told about it in parts one and two, with part three coming on Friday.  We have been settling in, meeting new friends and trying to get better.  We have all been fighting really bad colds.  However, I do see an end in sight with the sickness.  Thank you to those who have been praying for us while we are on this journey.  God has brought us to Colorado for a reason and I am going to do my best to glorify Him in all I do, while I am here.  With saying that, I am picking back up with my thankful list.
