My Well Planned Day Software Review and Giveaway!

My Well Planned Day Software Review and Giveaway!

When I first started homeschooling, I tried using several different planners to help me plan our day.  With in a couple of weeks, I always stopped using them, either because they didn’t fit our needs or I got behind trying to write everything down that I wanted to keep track up.

At one time, my husband even created a weekly excel spreadsheet that I could right lesson plans in and I could print lessons for the day or even for the whole week on it.  I used it the longest for a couple of years.  However, it still did not have everything I wanted to keep track of on it.

As the years have gone by, I have turned more and more to the computer and online world to make up different plans, spreadsheets and calendars to help me keep track of our busy life with four children.  I have yet to find anything online to keep track of everything, until now.

When I went to the 2:1 Conference back in April, I had the pleasure of meeting Jenny from Home Educating Family.  We got to talking about the Well Planned Day Planners that Home Educating Family offered.  I had seen them before, but never bought one because it was paper and would have required me to write everything in.  Knowing my history with this, I knew it wasn’t the planner for me.  I asked her if Home Education Family had plans for making there planner online.  She said yes!  I was so excited and couldn’t wait to try it out when it became available.  Jenny contacted me about a month ago and asked if I would love to give it a try and I just couldn’t pass up this offer!

The My Well Planned Day software is amazing to me!  One of the things I love most about it, is that it combines School plus Household activities and events.  I can use the software to make lesson plans and assignments plus make a menu and grocery list!  The best of both worlds that I wanted together!  You can add the textbooks on here that you are using and keep track of the Literature that you are reading.  What has really gotten me excited is that I will soon be able to sync my Google calendar that my husband and I use, to the calendar on this software!

I really feel like the My Well Planned Day software is going to help me out so much.  I can already see areas that it has helped me in.  I would like for you to have the same chance to see if this awesome software will help you as much as it has me.

dreams coming true

Vegas and Ben

For my oldest daughter, moving here has made a little girl’s dream come true.  Since she begin to talk, she had this love for horses.  Horse was one of her very first words.  She has quite a few stuff animal horses and has drawn many pictures of horses throughout the years.  So when we moved to Colorado, the lady we are renting the vacation rental from, has two horses.  She asked Sarah if she would be willing to help take care of the horses for her.  Of course she said yes!  Not only does she have a job helping to take care of horses and being paid for it, she is also getting riding lessons in return.  Yes, dreams do come true to hose who wait.

Sarah riding Ben.

Sarah wakes up every morning and will go straight to the horses.  She will let them out into the field and clean the stable.

Every afternoon she will go out to give the horses fresh water and food.

Sarah and Ben are trotting now.

While I haven’t been able to provide this dream for my daughter, God has.  It is amazing what happens when you do your best to follow God and be in His will.  Even something as simple as making a girl’s dream come true of having horses around, He does care for you and will provide.

I am glad my daughter is able to have this experience.  It is teaching her responsibility.  It is teaching her how to properly care for animals.  It is teaching her hard work.  It is teaching her that dreams come true if you work hard and most of all, trust in God.  Even after we move, Sarah will still have a job taking care of Ben and Vegas several times a week.  She will also continue taking riding lessons.  Yes, good things come to those who wait.  Thank you God for giving my daughter this dream.

14 days ago we celebrated a birthday

14 days ago we celebrated a birthday

Yes, that is right. I said 14 days ago we celebrated a birthday. Our youngest son, Samuel, turned 8.  Before we left North Carolina, we held a birthday party for him with his friends.   So when his actual birthday came around, it was just going to be a small family affair.  We tried to make it as memorable as we could being so far from family and friends.

It did end up being a fun day.  We got to go on a field trip to a mine with a homeschool group.  He had a lot of fun.  Especially when it came time to pan for gold!

He chose what kind of cake he wanted, white cake with a lemon filling.  However, I surprised him with a football theme on top.  He loved it!

Samuel’s Denver Bronco’s birthday cake.

Overall, I think he had a great day.  I know we enjoyed celebrating this life of this precious child.  We thank God for him every day.  I am looking forward to seeing him grow over this next year and then into a young man.  I know God has great plans for him.

Lookout Mountain ~ field trip

Lookout Mountain ~ field trip

One of the first places we took the kids when we got to Colorado, was Lookout Mountain. Lookout Mountain is the place where Buffalo Bill is buried. They have a beautiful museum and a great little cafe on top of the mountain. The day we took the kids, they were having their annual music festival. So there was an extra added treat to this visit.

The first thing we did was take a short walk around the railing outside.  The views were just beautiful.  We saw people para-sailing off the mountain.   I tried to get a picture, but they were just too far away.  You can barely see them in the picture.

I just can’t seem to get enough of the views.  They are absolutely beautiful!

The picture below is of the North and South Table Top Mountains.

I love the history of the Old West.  So I was in heaven walking through this museum.  The amount of actual items from his shows are amazing.

One of the reason why I love this museum so much, is they have an area just for the kids.  They provide hats, boots, chaps and vests for the kids to try on.  They also have a horse and a calf so the kids can try to rope the calf.  I didn’t think we would ever get the kids away from this area.

Loved my son’s facial expression in this picture.  He did not want his sister on the horse with him!

Claire did finally get her turn on the horse.  I just wish I could have taken better pictures of the kids in this area.

I am thankful that my kids live history as much as I do.  They took their time looking at each display.

Even my oldest child enjoyed this little family field trip.  It is rare that he gets to come with us when we go on trips.

The Buffalo Bill Museum is a great place to go for a family outing.  I definitely see us coming to this museum many times.

As I sit here thinking on the last month of our life, I can look back and know from all that has happened, that our family has truly been blessed.  A lot happened, but God was with us every step of the way.  Was it a hard trip?  Yes.  Were there times that I thought we would never make it and this was a big mistake?  Yes.  Yes, there were.  I even cried at times.  I wondered why all of the bad stuff was happening.  I had felt peace about the move from the very first time we heard Buddy had the job.  I was questioning if we had missed something, a sign that we weren’t supposed to move cross-country.  However, I could not think of anything that would have felt like a sign from God saying we should not take the job and move.

What kept me going? This verse in Joshua.  There is also one found in Deuteronomy that is almost word for word.  It just wasn’t any verse, it was a command. It was a command to Joshua, just after Moses died.  However, I think it applies quite well to our life right now.  It was where God was commissioning Joshua to carry on what Moses had started.  I feel like God has charged us to do the same.

 Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

This is what I have tried to do this whole time.  Be strong and to have courage.  God has lead us out here to Colorado for a reason.  We made it to Colorado safely and now we are settling in.  As for the reason God lead us out here, I don’t know it yet.  I don’t know if we will ever know why we were lead to Golden, CO.  However, I do know that we must do our best to live daily for Him.  I will be doing this by putting one foot in front of another.  By taking care of my husband and children.  By glorifying God in all we do.  Will it always be easy?  No. God never said it would be easy.

We will just be taking it day by day and counting our blessings as we go.
