Works For Me Wednesday : Mom, I’m Bored!

Works For Me Wednesday is being hosted by We Are That Family.

Summer is upon us and school is almost finished. This is when I hear the words “Mom, I’m bored” the most. So here are a few ideas that I have come up with to help those boring times during the summer.

We already have several planned activities that include Vacation Bible School at church, PE class with our homeschool group once a week and a short vacation when family comes to visit from Florida.

For spur of the moment ideas, one is, we will head to the park. We have several awesome parks in the area and the kids enjoy going to each one. They love it when we pack a lunch and go spend the morning or afternoon running, swinging and sliding!

We will also be making trips to the library to pick out books to read for the summer reading program.

The town pool has just opened up and the kids are already begging to go swimming.

On rainy days, we have board games as well as card games that we can play with each other.

As a special treat though, my kids love it when I bring out my card making supplies and stamps. They enjoy creating cards and letters to send to family.

Also, who can forget that when nothing else works, there are always chores that can be done. 😉

Regardless of what we do, I know we will have fun doing it because we will be together as a family. I am very thankful and blessed my children love each other and enjoy doing things together.

My “sweet shot of the day” is this picture of the creek running through the Great Smokey National Park. It is just so peaceful to me. Hope you enjoy it!

Veteran’s Dinner

Veteran’s Dinner

The homeschool group I am part of and a local church in our town joined forces to honor the Veterans in our area. We had many volunteers to donate food for a BBQ dinner and then we served those who have served our country.

It was truly an honor and a privilege to be able to give a little something back to those who have given us so much.

We took so many pictures, that I had a hard time trying to chose which ones I wanted to post. Words can not express the emotions that we had tonight listening to the stories. The pictures sure do not do these veterans justice either. However, please enjoy the ones below.
