The homeschool group I am part of and a local church in our town joined forces to honor the Veterans in our area. We had many volunteers to donate food for a BBQ dinner and then we served those who have served our country.

It was truly an honor and a privilege to be able to give a little something back to those who have given us so much.

We took so many pictures, that I had a hard time trying to chose which ones I wanted to post. Words can not express the emotions that we had tonight listening to the stories. The pictures sure do not do these veterans justice either. However, please enjoy the ones below.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, started honoring all soldiers after World War I.

My children and I had the honor and privilege of seeing the Vietnam Moving Wall Memorial. It is something I will never forget. Seeing all the names on the wall, knowing that they gave their life so that other may have freedom. Thousands and thousands of names…knowing that more men and women have given their life in other wars. The feeling you get is just so overwhelming. Very hard to describe. A feeling though, that will never be forgotten.

And saying thank you, just doesn’t seem to be enough. However, it is the only thing I have to offer, other than a prayer for those still fighting the fight for our freedom and our country.

So, thank you to those in the past and present who have served the USA. We are able to live in a land of freedom thanks to you. May God bless you and your families.

Another Adventure…

I have just started another adventure. If you have known me for a long time, you know that I love to read and that I love books. I have been blessed with children who love books and to read as much as I do. Now, I am able to take that passion and hobby and make a part-time job out of it.

I am now an Usborne Consultant. What is an Usborne Consultant? It is a person who sells awesome books by a great company. Here is the Mission Statement from Usborne Books & More:

“The future of our world depends on the education of our
children. UBAM delivers educational excellence one book
at a time. We provide economic opportunity while fostering
strong family values. We touch the lives of children for a lifetime.”

I can honestly say that the books they have are well written. The books I have gotten in the past have captured my kids attention right from the beginning. They have all sorts of topics, subjects and books for different age levels.
